Karamtara Engineering Pvt. Ltd (KEPL) was incorporated in 1996 for manufacturing transmission towers primarily for KEC International Limited KEPL is a 100% family-owned company. The company commissioned its first transmission tower manufacturing unit in 1998. The plant is located near the Mumbai port at MIDC Tarapur, which is well connected by rail, road and sea. Until 2006-07, KEPL was working as a conversion agent for KEC, producing the components needed for a tower with the raw materials being provided by KEC.
From 2007-08, KEPL started catering to the needs of other customers too. Currently, KEPL is engaged in the manufacturing of power transmission towers. The company plans to amalgamate with its fully owned subsidiaries, viz Karamtara Fasteners Pvt. Ltd Karamtara Steel Pvt. Ltd and Sunder Rolling Mills Pvt. Ltd which is a wholly owned subsidiary of KSPL), all of which are operating in different segments of the overall tower manufacturing business.
