Suryadev Alloys & Power is planning to expand its steel plant at New Gummidipoondi in Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. The project involves installation of 2 x 500 tpd DRI kiln to produce sponge iron, sinter plant of capacity 110 cu.meter to produce 10,08,00 tpa, pig iron through blast furnace (756000 tpa), billets through induction furnace 12, 50,000 tpa , rolled products of 12,00,000 tpa and a captive power plant of 30 MW using waste heat recovery and 330 MW using coal, ferro alloy plant of 12,000 tpa and an oxygen plant of 400 tpd. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 21,000 million.
