About the Company :

SSPL is part of the Shyam group, promoted by Mr Mahabir Prasad Agarwal. The company was originally incorporated in the name of Shyama Cast Private Ltd. in September 1991, which was finally changed to its current name, Shyam Sel & Power Ltd. in April 2008. SSPL commenced commercial operations in 1996 with steel melting shops. As on December 31, 2014, SSPL had installed capacities of 500,000 MTPA of pellets, 249,400 MTPA of sponge iron, 232,800 MTPA of steel billets, 67,135 MTPA of ferro alloys, 149,000 MTPA of rolled products and 92 MW of power at its plant located at various location (Rajiganj, Burdwan, Durgapur & Howrah) in West Bengal. Furthermore, the company is also involved in trading of allied products which comprised only 5.5% of its gross sales in FY14 (4% in FY13; refers to the period April 1 to March 31).

Shyam group, currently has diversified business interests, comprising iron & steel, ferro alloys and power. The other major company of the group is Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd., which is also has an integrated steel plant located in Orissa and is engaged in the manufacturing and selling of sponge iron, steel billets, ferro alloys, pellets and various long steel products like pipes, TMT bars, flats and power. The company earned PAT of Rs.29.8 crore on net sales of Rs.1,157 crore in audited FY14 as against a PAT of Rs.19.4 crore on net sales of Rs.754 crore in audited FY13. Furthermore, it has earned a PAT of Rs.17.1 crore on a total operating income of Rs.615 crore in provisional H1FY15.
