C M Smith And Sons Ltd a Gujarat-based company was established in 1943, is a closely-held public limited company, engaged in the auto-components business with an operational track record of almost seven decades. The current chairman of CMSSL is Mr Ratilal Smith, with an experience of over 50 years in this field. The business is managed by the third generation of the family under the leadership of Mr Ashwin Smith, managing director. CMSSL manufactures automotive components, catering to the requirements of passenger cars, utility vehicles, light- medium- heavy and multi-axle vehicles, trailer parts and engineering industries. CMSSL has established and reputed clientele which includes domestic auto majors. During FY11, CMSSL has taken up a forward integration project of expanding/improving its machine shop capacity which is presently outsourced to other local players. The project cost is estimated to be Rs.31.16 crore to be funded at a project DER of 2.33 times. As on June 30, 2011, CMSSL has incurred Rs.15.90 crore on the same. Part of the project is already operational and is expected to be completed by the end of FY12.
